It’s official: The Barbary in Fishtown is on the market.
It is unknown why owner John Redden put the hot spot across from the Fillmore and within walking distance of SugarHouse Casino up for sale, but hopefully the next owner won’t change it drastically or knock it down.
Found off of Frankford Avenue, the cash-only night club and occasional concert venue provides a variety of shows for different music genres and crowds. Three bars on two floors carry cheap drinks with two dancing areas and a seating area on the second floor.
The Barbary has been the location for tons of events, from monthly parties like An 80’s Affair to weekly Sunday Karaoke Night. Other nights include Transmission, Indie dance party Tigerbeats, Space Jams and 90s Party/00s Party.
Admission never broke the bank by staying between $5-7 with valid ID and as long as you had a stamp on your right hand, you could come in and out of the venue as you pleased.
What is included in the asking price of $2.2 million is the three-story building, the corning parking lot, liquor license, a walk-in cooler and the business according to MSC Retail. The Barbary will remain open until the club has been purchased and tickets for any remaining shows can be found on Ticketfly.
